Huray! I just received this kit as a gift from boyfriend. I will be soldering this kit soon, with some help though, haha. I don’t know the first thing about soldering..
I’ll let you know how it went : )
Hi Jeff,
I bought the Simon Says kit at the Make Mini Faire last weekend. Everything works fine…except the green LED. It turns on but it is very faint. I have swapped out the green LED with a new one but it is still the same. Could it be the resistor? Can you let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Paul
Hey Paul,
You’re right, the green resistor appears to be a little dim compared to the others. This looks like an oversight on my part from when I switched LED suppliers for the latest batch of kits – sorry about that!
I tested it out with a different resistor (a 680 ohm one like the red and yellow LEDs use) and it was brighter. If you have a spare resistor around 680 ohms, I would swap out resistor R5 (the one closest to the green LED) for it.
If you don’t have a spare resistor then I’d be happy to send you one, just shoot me an email with your address – you can find my email address via the Contact link in the header.
